Less Salary and more work @ cal

Who the hell wants to work for the less salary and more work?
Well, I’m the one who was doing @ Cal….

I was working as HR Manager, Systems Administrator and Content Writer.

I got business proposals wherever I went but still I’m getting 7k.

I was getting 20k take home in my previous company and now, itz kinda demotion to me. That is what I feels although it is not, literally!!

Roads @ Cal

Yes, I mean the roads for transportation is like hell. Some roads are nice but most of them are very bad even to walk along.

The most irritating thing is while making the roads. Whenever they make the Tar Roads (Mastic Asphalt) they prepare tar (colloquial word) by blocking all the traffic for days together.

It would be better if they prepare the tar somewhere outside and bring it wherever they need to make the roads.

The dust will kill people…I think may be not because all of the locale its are habituated.

Way to go!! Cal…

PG Rules – Cal

Here the rules to get into PG is only one of its kind. The advance is non-refundable.
For instance, if the monthly PG rent is Rs. 3,500/- then the advance will be Rs. 7000/- besides the rent will paid before we enter the PG.

I dont think this kind of rule is there in other parts of the country. However, no such weird rules in Bangalore. We give advance and the owner lets us in. Then once we complete one month we will pay the previous month rent.

Rs. 3,500/- will be adjusted for the first month when we step in. Obviously it is from the advance.
When we leave the PG another Rs. 3500/- will be adjusted to the last month. Yes, we have to tell them one month before which seems quite alright because they have to find another person.

I dont understand one thing is when all people tells me that standard of living in Cal is too less when compared to all other cities in India then why 3.5k (too high for PG).

Designs, Art and Designers at Cal

Bengal is famous for Bengal tigers. Well, here the artists are very famous so there are hell amount of Design Studios like Arena Animation, MAAC (Maaya Academy of Advanced Cinematics).

Lot of people are chosen to act in movies especially in Bollywood because of their fragile beauty. And, some are even taken to Hollywood although it is quite rare.

These people are good at art. Be it singing, dancing, or drawing or painting or creating sculptures.
Whatever it is associated with art. It does not mean that everyone knows every art but still they are good at it and extremely talented in this field which needs to acclaimed and applauded from the bottom of everyone’s heart.

Too much politics one could not bear!!

Bengal is a land of politics always getting in the warfare of political affairs by one or another political parties thus causing whole Calcuttans face a bandh of the whole city or either the whole State, West-Bengal.

Here people hardly work. They just need pleasure. Be it in any form. Some wants to be rich without even working a bit. It is impractical but they make dreams true by engaging in improper political activities or lot of bribery or back-biting or what-so-ever one could ever think of..?

They can crave any art in any kind in a matter of no time.

Some Biharis work and pull Cycle rickshaws (or bycycle) which is so called. It will be usefull especially in the rainy water logging month of Cal. But they always create a traffic jam by pulling the cycle rickshaws and keeping it in the middle of the roads.

Here fighting is also bit different and by reading this one will laugh lying on the floor.
If two people are fighting then another two parties will come and start discussing about their topics. If the persons who started the fight is not interested then they can leave because they already transferred the quarell to another group of men or women accordingly.

It is a land of different cultures which is so difficult to accept for the people especially if they have come from an aristocrat and orthodos Hindu Family.

Things I like n dislike in Cal

The things I like in Cal or Bengal is sweets…H’m Bengal sweets are very delicious and very very tasty for everyone to crave for more!!

I like Metro (an underground train) which travells fast at electronic speeds and also maintains the exact time.

And, also Bengal gals are beautiful upto the core and very delicate like flowers. It is just 2 and half kilometres from office to house but got to wait hell amount of time sometimes to get into auto rickshaw.

The fares are very less Rs. 4.50/- (as of year 2007) and if you wanna go in the bus then you have to pay just Rs. 4/- It increases by rupee 1 or so if the distance increases but still very less.

It is shared auto which I dont like; An auto where 5 people sit and if I count the auto driver then it will be 6. Some of the autos seems like bigger than what we get in the South India or Bangalore. However, some of them are too small.

Especially gals of younger age and sometimes women sit so closely with the boys/males their skin feels so warm and mesmerizing yet one should not lose the consciousness if they do then you have to forget the wallet or your belongings once you hit your place.

Or, they might take you to their escorts. It seems too funny but this is how things happen here.

I’ve hardly seen gals blush here if anyone of the boys stare at them. This is too weird and impractical. I dont know why it is like this in the Eastern India.

Calcutta is famous for East Indian Company once formed when British first invaded India almost two to three hundred years back. Since then they formed lot of clubs and the name till remains as an area or lane’s name followed by some club’s name.

PG Owner

PG Owner by name Mr. Nagarajan S ( Tamilian) a south Indian from Chennai (Madras) is a money-minded person. Although, he cares the person who resides in his house (Paying Guest) he finds one or another way to get the money from the rented persons.

He charges Rs. 3,500/- with one dinner and one breakfast. And, he gives meal for the breakfast which is so weird for me.

He cares a lot and seems like a good person but very greedy. He craves for more even if you give Swiss Bank itself.

Sculptures, Art and Cal ~ Bengal….!!

Here people are really artists and they can crave an art in any kind or in any form you could even imagine. This is really fantabulous. They worship Vishwakarma Pooja wherein they believe that the whole world was created by Vishwakarma (chief architect of Hindu Gods) after Brahma has told him to do so.

The sculptures they create seems like it is real and not a sculpture at all. The colours, the shape they design is marvellous and life-like.

After this festival they celebrate Durga Puja and at south (Mysore or karnataka) we call this Navaratri or Dussehra or Dasara.

Here people will create Durga Idols ; they call it Pendals with lot of decoration around the idols. It looks like they have built the temple although it is made from different materials.
I will post some of the photos of Durga Idols which is really marvellous.

The total cost of the Durga Puja in the whole Cal is estimated to be more than a billion dollars.

I was thinking in a very different way if they can ..If they dont celebrate the Durga Puja for one year then the whole Cal can be converted into a Hi-tech city within a year.

I landed on Cal at 9th of Sep

In this blog I’m gonna write my experiences being at Kolkata. I landed at Kolkata on 9th of September 2007. I waited for 10 more minutes after the checking was over and got into CEO’s car ; the place where I was supposed to work as a Systems Administrator.

The moment I put my feet on the ground I felt these people are chaotic upto the core. But it is very different from the Bangalore. To give you a brief comparison about Bangalore and Cal;
Bangalorians undergo lot of pressure daily at every point of time. No matter whether they are at work or at school; Be it whatever they are at they will be undergoing pressure at least in one or another way.

I dont know whether the rain will be coming in Cal for the whole year; but it is raining like hell since I landed on Cal till now.

People go swimming in the dirty muddy rainy water; hehe…You figured..Yes, there is a water logging.

September is a month of water-logging although it comes under the category of rainy season for Cal people.

I wish I would’ve brought a Swim-suit so that I can go underwater. Jokes apart, there was a lot of rain and some of the rain water got inside completely into my newly brought woodlands shoes. There were absolutely no transport was running. I went by walk and I was immersed atleast half ( water was upto my knee level; slightly more than knee level, probably. I’m 6 foot tall).

What’s worse I forgot to close the windows at the place where I reside and there was water all over the room. I reside in PG in the first floor.

There was water..water everywhere. Felt like I’ve come here to a distant island with different culture of people and seems like writing a song on the water…But got afraid that that watery song will not get water. LOL…!!
